HIGH SCHOOL BAKING CLUBS

How do they work?

Our high school baking clubs are designed to give students an opportunity to grow their leadership and volunteer skills while having lots of fun! This page will give a behind-the-scenes look into how the High School Baking Clubs run.

  1. The student leadership team puts out an Instagram poll the week before their baking session. This poll allows students from that particular school to vote on what cookie flavor they will bake that week. A few days later, the student leaders put out a second poll, this time asking students where they would like the cookies to be donated that week.
  2. About an hour before the baking session, a CFB volunteer brings equipment and ingredient kits into the school and sets them up in the school's culinary arts room. This allows the baking clubs to run without using any school property, ovens being the only exception.
  3. After that, the students and their teacher advisor run their baking session. Each baking session yields a total of 175 cookies(6-7 stations, 24 cookies each), 100 of them being donated to the charity of the week.
  4. Once baking is complete, students clean the classroom till it is better than how they found it so it is ready for school the next day. Student leadership then brings all equipment and dirty dishes to the Sylvania Senior Center, where they are washed and stored. They are also responsible for delivering the cookies to the recipients.
